No one needs reminding about the terrible disaster in Haiti. As a church we are making a collection to contribute to the relief effort. We are also committed to praying for the situation. Such events are mind bending, heart breaking and tragically familiar. However, there has been something very unfamiliar about the response to this disaster in our own culture. I am thinking about the way that the media has turned to the church. Not to ask for aid or for prayer, but to ask us to explain ourselves. 'How can there be an all powerful God of love if such things happen?' they ask. This series of sermons sets out a response to this request.
